This question is asked to me almost every single time I teach a class or work with a private client. So I figured, lots of people clearly have questions --- and why should I expect people to have a website that is useful {and get frustrated when it isn't} if actors don't have the information that serves them. So here it is friends!
These are the things EVERY ACTOR must have on their website.
- A domain that makes sense and is easily searchable. Don't be cute or funny. Your domain should be your name if possible.
- Downloadable PDF of your Resume & Headshot
- Contact information for you DIRECTLY & for your representation. NOT A FORM. Put your email address on your website please! (If you don't feel comfortable putting it out in the open on a contact page, please make sure it is on the PDF of your resume.)
- Bios are not super important. Don't agonize over coming up with something quippy about your childhood. Most people really don't need or want that information anyways.
- Accurate pictures of what you look like NOW. Including pictures that show your entire body.
- Video Footage of you doing what you do. This is WAY MORE important that photos from shows you have done.
- You need to have recent footage of you singing, dancing, doing stand up comedy, acting, a reel of your TV experience....whatever it is you want to be doing. How can we know what you do if you don't show us?
- Embed the footage --- don't make people click links to it.
- A section of current news. This shows me that you are actively working in your career --- and also lets me know if you are currently available for a contract.
- Links to all of your social media accounts (If you are sharing them with the world!)
I hope this is helpful friends! Remember, you can't be hired if we don't know how to find you! So start working on making your site specific, special, and most importantly available!
